Ski to the Sun

Classic & Freestyle division

The course will take racers from Mazama down the valley and up to the sunny slopes of Sun Mountain Lodge for a heart-pounding finish. Steady climbs, fast descents, and festive aid stations await!

Team relay division

Inspired by our popular Sunflower Marathon, Half Marathon, & Relay, the Ski to the Sun Relay encourages skiers of all ages and abilities to join in the festivities! Skiers are welcome to skate or classic, but awards will be based on overall time (no skate and classic divisions).

Para Nordic division

The Para Nordic course offers a fun and challenging race from Mazama to Brown’s Farm (10.5km) with categories for standing and sitting racers. Racers will be transported to Sun Mountain Lodge after the race for the awards celebration and lunch.

Friday, February 7

Ski Demo - 10:00am-2:00pm, Mazama Trailhead. Come check out the latest and greatest in ski equipment with this free, public event! Reps from Madshus, Atomic, Fischer, Salomon, One Way, Swix, Nordjork, Bjorn To, and more will be there.

Bib Pick Up -3:00-6:00pm Winthrop Mountain Sports

• We highly recommend this option!

• Use your bib to recieve a 15% discount on the entire store and 20% off Nordic ski apparel.

• Relay teams must pick up their packets on Friday. Only 1 member needs to be present.

• You are welcome to pick up a bib for a friend/family member, but will need to verify their age.

• Participants 21+ receive 1 complimentary beer from Old Schoolhouse Brewery.

• Food for racers only. Please bring a picnic lunch for family members and spectators.

Entry fee includes race bib, custom Ski to the Sun hat, post-race lunch, one free beer (21+), raffle prizes, and awards. No day-of registration. Refunds and transfers can be made until January 15th for a $15 fee. No refunds or transfers after January 15th. Register early, this event sells out every year.

Methow Trails and Methow Valley Nordic are non-profit organizations.  Income from this event supports year-round trail operations and Nordic ski programming in the Methow Valley. There are no entry refunds, exchanges, transfers or rollovers after January 15th, and the event may be cancelled due to variables beyond our control; severe weather conditions, fire, unhealthy air quality, road closures, natural disasters, or other unforeseeable events. We highly recommend purchasing race insurance through RunReg.
