Career Pathways Program Manager

Position Summary: Methow Trails is hiring a full-time salaried, exempt position for the next 18 months to develop a training program for future ski trail operations employees. The position is funded through a “Program Builder Grant” From Career Connect Washington (CCW). The Career Pathways Program Manager (CPPM) will design an internship for high school students and other young adults to prepare them for future employment in the ski industry and other related fields. The CPPM will lead the development of this program by working closely with Methow Trails Operations staff, the Methow Valley School District (MVSD) staff/students, and industry trade schools. The CPPM will also collaborate with other school districts in the area, colleges in WA state, and other regional industry partners to develop further pathways for future employees. Salary is $55,000-$65,000/year, depending on experience, plus benefits.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a Career Prep Program for Methow Trails.
  • Working with relevant MT staff, develop a Framework for the Career Prep Program that includes the program details (e.g., what, how, who, when). 
  • Convene project partners to co-develop and provide input on the Career Prep Program. These partners include, but are not limited to, the Methow Valley School District (MVSD), the Methow Independent Learning Center (ILC), Western Washington University, Wenatchee Valley College, and Skagit Valley College.
  • Establish a student advisory of Liberty Bell Jr/Sr HS, ILC students, and WWU students to advise and provide input on the program. 
  • Review existing in-class curriculum from MVSD and revise accordingly to incorporate the internship element of the program.
  • Review and modify existing curriculum from outside organizations (e.g., Colorado Mountain College).
  • Working closely with Methow Trails operations staff, design the internship portion of the program.
  • Reach out to potential employee partners to engage them in using the framework to implement a Career Pathways program in their organization. 
  • Attend and represent Methow Trails at statewide CCW quarterly meetings.
  • Meet with CCW Sector Leads and regional support team (North Central ESD) 
  • Develop and track the program budget.
  • Prep reports to the Employment Security Department (ESD) Grant Manager.
  • Represent the mission, goals, and values of Methow Trails in a clear and inspiring manner. 

 Skills, Knowledge, Experience:

  • Knowledge of the mission and work of Methow Trails.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Methow Trails development and maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working in WA State public school education systems, including CTE programs.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to engage a range of diverse partners.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Facility with Microsoft Suite and Google Docs.

Groomer

This is a seasonal, full-time position during the winter season, with some part-time schedules available as well. Groomers are the backbone of our organization and work to create the perfect trail product we strive for on a daily basis. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Has light and/or heavy machinery experience
  • Has experience in the snow or grooming industry. Willing to groom on snowmobiles, ATVs, UTV, and PistenBully snowcats
  • Enjoys (or least doesn't mind) working nights
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and winter holidays
  • Is an avid trail user familiar with our trail system, and already lives in the Methow Valley
  • Has good communication skills with a keen eye for details
  • Is willing to commit to a minimum of 3 winters 
  • Is comfortable working independently within a close community of groomers and other staff
